Hi The Prophet; Re 128MB figures.

PC133 $20 $20 $20 $21 $21 => Average = $20.40
PC2100 $44 $44 $46 $47 $47 => Average = $45.60 +124%
PC800 $79 $82 $82 $82 $83 => Average = $81.60 +300%

First of all, note that DDR is still a lot cheaper than RDRAM. From today's figures, it's 79%.

Second, note that there is no 64MB PC2100 on Pricewatch. That size is too small for the memory makers to bother with. Do you really want to start a long term price sequence with the smallest PC2100 stick on PriceWatch?

Third, note that the prices are rounded to the nearest dollar, and the PC133 figures thus have "rounding noise" of around 5%. Is that your idea of a good data sequence?

Fourth, note that with PC133 prices at $20 per stick, shipping costs are around 50%:

Shipping prices for the above 5 cheapest PC133 DIMMs averages $10.91:
$20 INSURED $10.75
$20 FedEx $11.60
$20 Begins $10.36
$21 Insured $11.00
$21 Insured $10.85

pricewatch.com

By comparison, look at the shipping prices for most expensive page of PC133 DIMMs averages $8.52:

Shipping prices for the 8 most dear PC133 DIMMs:
$219 Starts $ 8.25
$219 Starts $ 9.00
$222 $ 9.00
$222 $ 4.95
$227 $ 9.00
$254 $ 7.95
$334 $ 9.00
$349 $11.00

The implication is that some of these guys are doing a bit of gaming the shipping prices. Now they likely game the shipping on the 256MB sticks, as well as the RDRAM and DDR prices, but from the point of view of getting good data, the game is worst for the cheap sticks. By using 256MB prices, I minimize this sort of cr@p.

P.S. Is using 128MB pricing despite the above points what you think "fair" means?

Does this have anything to do with your inability to understand how it is that a jury found Rambus guilty of FRAUD?

You are unable to distinguish between right and wrong. Go look in a mirror. You're crooked, just like this company.
