Clinton's advice that the U.S. should be more concilliatory towards China comes in the wake of President Bush's decision to reverse his own administration's eight year moratorium on arms sales to Taiwan in the face of Beijing's repeated threats of invasion -- and even nuclear attack on the U.S. if it interferes. Really now. I remember China's threatening to nuke us-- proof that it is no partner-- not even close. Now Taiwan is a partner, and I think we should do more to support her. We should give her the Aegis destroyers she wants. Moreover, Bush should not have rescinded his remark re: his willing to fight for Taiwan if need be.
