5/08/01 - Amkor hopes April was bottom of trough SINGAPORE, May 9 (Reuters) - Amkor Technology Inc, a leading provider of semiconductor packaging and test equipment, said on Wednesday it hoped April was the bottom of a slump in the industry and saw sequential growth in June. Jorge Silva, senior vice-president for business development, told Reuters on the sidelines of an industry conference the U.S. firm was in "active talks with several companies" in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and China about potential acquisitions
