NTAP growth generating ENVY: NTAP has nothing to fear from DELL or other late comers to Storage:
"But storage is a tough nut to crack, as IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems have found as they try to win back former customers who now source hardware and services from storage specialists, such as EMC and Network Appliance. Dell won't be granted an exemption just because it's dominant in the PC market." news.cnet.com
You have to remember that Dell, like CPQ also in the storage game, IS WINTEL only (msft windows/intc intel chips), whereas STORAGE requires cross platform hardware AND software services particularly Unix/Linux/SUNW Solaris/etc etc, whether its motorola chips, AMD chips, Intel chips, or specialty chips for routers and switches and other network and NETWORK APPLIANCES, Network attached storage servers NAS or Storage Area Network Servers SANS etc. NTAP has the inside track and proven track record with the main players, making it a commodity will be the choice and control of NTAP and others when they decide to continue lower end storage applications and systems at reduced prices for new smaller customers with smaller budgets and then eventually the rest of us high end need consumers, one can not forget the key here: PATENTS AND COPYRIGHTS and NTAP has these, DELL does not.
