Darrell - you have completely lost me with this discussion. The performance of a web browser tied to a boadband link is virtually identical whether it is an 8 year old 90 MHz pentium or a 1.7 GHz P4 - I know, since I have both machines. Likewise download times are virtually identical - the P90 is one my 4 year old uses a lot and it downloads stuff at whatever bandwidth my 1.5 DSL will deliver. The idea that a network connection that would have been slow in 1985 somehow requires a faster PC is just not reasonable.

Your 80211B numbers are crazy too. I have one on the machine I am using at the moment. I can grab a 1MB file in about a second - it is virtually identical in performance to 10MB wired ethernet. Where do you get this 7 minutes stuff?
