AMD has announced a flash unit that will write about 20 mb per second and is fast enough to replace DRAM in portable and hand held computers, not to mention dozens of other applications, including set top boxes and cell phones. A large capacity unit, such as AMD is manufacturing, could also be used in place of removable flash cards in digital cameras or MP3 players. The user would simply dump the files into a computer or other device for storage, or upload images to an online host. It should be noted that Kodak has an AMD director on its own Board of Directors. Maybe this is why Kodak has been reluctant to acquire any position in removable flash card manufacturing, even for investment purposes.

I guess he is talking about this

except AMD says 133MB/s not 20.

Do you think this will actually mean much to AMD or is it just another routine new product announcement?
