My take is no, and also that the reader who wrote in to The Inquirer is mistaken.

It makes sense to represent the L2 cache as one circle insofar as any common address lines must be consistent across the N processors.

If you used 2 separate circles to better represent the physical manifestation (and logical in the case of disjoint data) you'd need to put something on the diagram to imply "kept in sync".

Or maybe not, if that's the common assumption.

I wouldn't infer too much from the diagram at any rate.
