Convergence, what's that ?

Nobody really needs a computer.

Each medium becomes converged when available power and data processing capabilities have the power necessary to manipulate them freely. Each technology being absorbed has had many years to mature, each will be subsumed quickly. Anyone who can't see the end of TV broadcasting isn't watching closely. It isn't a matter of if at all, it is when. The process is just about complete with sound, the only thing lacking is the delivery. Downloading songs is still time consuming but internet radio works well. Rio's are becoming very popular you know. Working with video is still very clumsy. Extra dollars can build a desktop PC that will do it, but it isn't palatable. According to Moore, in eighteen months things will change a lot. Cisco is still a very very good bet for a long term investment, I even think it is good over the next eighteen months.

The Cisco IOS is like a Unix shell and it is nothing at all like Windows2000 (W2K). I do agree that W2K is very scary though, much scarier than that Y2K.
