mm - right and imho if cdma2000 hdr shows any serious possibility of getting deployed in the US watch for the GSM proponents get very active. Like Congress and lobbying and loud noises form EU commissioners on trade etc. All that on top of commerical activities such as buying up the controlling stake of VZ wireless or threatening to or inhibiting US managments from taking the decisions to get going with cdma2000.

I wonder what strategy they might deploy against the PCS deployment? I bet there is one.

The GSM crowd are learning from the Chinese situation. A little dealy here, a little delay there, some doubt here, some doubt there, sow the seeds of dissention. These are tactics we should watch for in the US by the proponents of GSM. This is the greatest commercial battle for decades and the very GDP growth of entire countries depends on it. Finland to name one.

IT is depserate, even vital for the Europeans to prevent cdma2000 from being deployed in the US. There was a time year or so ago when I thought that the US wouldn't really be that crucial but as 3G in Europe has been such a massive problem fraught with technical and commercial disasters whlst on the other hand cdma 1X and thereby hdr looks that much better day by day as it comes inevitably to deployment in the US.

The Europeans, watching the Asians, will no doubt realize what effect the successful deployment of Qualcomm cdma 2000 1x will have on the Asians. The Asians will see that Dr Jacobs and the Ameicans have won, hands down. Do you think for one minute that the Europeans will allow that to happen?

Meantime with the oncoming drop in world trade how much longer is a P/E of over 50 sustainable on expectations that are reducing quarterly?

Best regards,
