Terra Lycos to Charge for Most Services

MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish Internet company Terra Lycos
(TRR.MC) (NasdaqNM:TRLY - news) is to start charging for most of
its services in an attempt to offset declining advertising revenues, El Pais
reported on Saturday citing a conversation with the company's
chairman.

Joaquim Agut told El Pais: ``24 percent of our world subscribers
already pay and our aim is to continue increasing that figure so that our
model will transform from all-free to all-paid.''

Agut said it was a question of changing consumer habits in Spain, where most people were used to
having free Internet access. But in order to pull it off, the company would complement its current basic
free service with value-added paid services.

Terra also planned to create a new content production center in Miami for its Latin American units.

Earlier this week, after announcing a 15 percent cut in its workforce, Terra cut its 2001 revenue target,
saying it would take another six months before it posted positive core earnings (EBITDA).

Nevertheless first quarter results showed narrower-than-expected losses before interest, taxes,
depreciation and amortization (LBITDA) of $66.5 million.
