You'll laugh when I tell you that I haven't been to Europe since 40 years ago when I was in service. I spent my time in the Mediterranean area. Saw Rome, Athens, and Madrid, also a lot of Heraklion, Crete. I was referring to my memories of Rome, and, in particular, Madrid.

Back then, cars weren't particularly plentiful. I can remember in Madrid, especially, the cabs (mostly tiny little Fiats, as I recall) drove at night WITHOUT lights the majority of the time.....flicking them on and off only when they came to an intersection. Crazy, but true. Most of the time, we had enough wine in us that we didn't care.

Regards,

Knip
