If it was false, why did Lee plead guilty to felony mishandling of classified material??
Actually, the plea was part of a plea-bargain. Wouldn't you if you had been in jail for a year and in agreement to plead guilty to what amounted to a trivial charge, you get to get out of jail and stop racking up millions in legal fees?
NOTHING, but NOTHING, can be taken off a classified system unless it bears a classifed label and is handled in accordance with proper procedures.
You don't know much about how classified materials work, do you? Trust me (I used to have a TS-SCI Clearance in my Army days), most classified materials aren't what you see in the movies - "the I can tell you but I would have to kill you" line only makes an impression on idiot civilians who have no clue what's going on.
If he was innocent, he should have turned the tapes over IMMEDIATELY and apologized for his violation.
Uh, does presumption of innocent mean anything to you? As soon as some FBI clown charges me with a crime, you can bet that I am going to clam up and make them prove their case. You think the FBI can be trusted? Heck, even their agents work for the Russians.
Had he done such a thing on a Chinese (PRC or Taiwanese) classified system, he would likely have not lived to tell about it. He would have "disappeared" forever.
Chinese, maybe, but not Taiwanese. In case you slept through the last 15 years, Taiwan has been a Democracy with even greater freedoms of speech/media than the U.S.
I love it when ignorant civilian take a hawkish stance. Most of the yahoos who are yelling for a tough line with China, or Russia, or Iraq know that they'll never be on the firing line when the shit hits the fan. It's easy to act tough when you don't have to pay the ultimate sacrifice, isn't it? |
