Joan, I have had very similar anecdotal experiences, but I'm not certain if it is as bad on a macro basis as it is among folks I talk to.

I have also recommended "The II," along with "The Money Game", and, of course, given my predilections, "Options As a Strategic Investment." For those who want to "invest" like in 1999, I recommend "Beat The Dealer." <g>

The main comment is that they just don't have time to do all that reading. My response in the past would have been that if you haven't got the time to do the studying, hire a good advisor. Nowadays, they shrug off that last as self-serving. When have I ever been self serving? <g>

The thing I have noticed is that most of the really nasty bulls have not blown up nearly as badly as the folks who were decent but wrongheaded. It must be some biological thing that protects the worst parts of our society so they can survive to breed replacements. <g>
