<The one guy on the board who's actually in the biz is still solidly in the regulation camp for now due to flawed modeling on the dereg side of the argument. Tell you anything?>

>>LOL, yea tells me you're grasping something to bolster your argument.<<

Hardly. tippet has argued that all the generation in the world and on the drawing board won't ease the crisis if you can't move it down the line to the users. A little detail over looked by the free marketeers in CA (and other places) until just lately. Wonder why? I suspect because the massive capital expenditure transmission required gets in the way of greed...and greed often overrides better sense.

Where I live dereg will not go forward until the transmission problem is solved much to the chagrin of the companies and traders chomping at the bit who prefer a more will nilly approach...maximize confusion, maximize profits?. State regulators are having to force them to make the capital expenditures. They didn't initially see where their own shortsightedness would cause systemic breakdown? Are they really that stupid? Who knows? Perhaps they did and didn't care...much like the situation in CA. I have to agree with tippet. Screw this free market model if this is what you get.

I suggest you pay attention when he posts on this issue. His arguments have been much more thoughtful than from those screaming "free markets" without any industry knowledge.

>>>No argument here.... seems your on the free market side now.. cool.<<<

I support a slow transition to "freer markets" not free markets. I'm by no means a free marketeer on this issue. Restructuring takes thought, monitoring and time so everyone benefits. Unlikely to work as free marketeers would have to control their greed and usually find it impossible to do so even if it is working to their detriment.

I want to keep the host alive and happy enough that it doesn't die or turn on me unlike the morons bleeding CA and soon the rest of the West. Like I said before this has turned into a very different kind of object lesson in power and greed that many failed to anticipate. I see everyone getting what they so richly deserve...soon it will be the generators/brokers/traders turn in the hopper.

In the mean time just substitute western electric rate payers/free marketeers for porn stars in the headline and article. Sustitute electric industry for adult-entertainment industry and electric-industry users for sex-industry workers in the article...and so forth and so on...you'll get the picture eventually.
