The opponents of tax cuts do the same thing. If the economy is doing well and there are big surpluses they say it will overheat the economy. If the economy is not doing so well then they say it will cause deficits.

Tim, the tax cut opponents have said essentially all along that the tax cuts may well be too late to help the economy..that's looking less likely to be true.....and that the tax cuts should not result in budget deficits.....I might add, the only rational position to take in this matter. If there was any concern expressed about overheating the economy, it was way back last fall when the tax cut was first raised.

However, Bush changes his story with each new development in the world. The next thing you know he will be suggesting we need a tax cut in case hoof and mouth makes it to the US and the price of beef goes up.
