The novelty has worn off internet stock boards for many imho ... there are other factors to explain slow SI threads, like the proliferation of other boards over the last few years, and the fact that many individuals have been badly beaten up in the tech crash, but i think the biggest factor is that it's not new any more ... for me, anyway ... it was such an amazing thing to find others interested in the same stocks you were, and to be able to converse with them ... and to roam around all sorts of other threads and learn stuff you never heard of before ... TA - we used to laugh at 'chartists', now i are one part-time, lol .... lots of garbage to wade through of course, produced by the gullible and the stupid, but sometimes you saw facets of yourself in them, and that was educational too .... SI changed the way i do everything about stocks, the way i think about stocks ... well, discount brokers helped too, and that was part of the net phenomenon as well, but SI had the greatest influence ..... now it's old hat, an everyday thing, the thrill is gone ... to a degree.
Summer slump, eh ... i wonder ... lots still so beat up ... thing in speckies used to be that you sold between now and Juneish and then tried ridiculous stink bids through July and August, to take profit in the September rally where you would do your planning for taxloss well ahead of the crowd so you had cash for the various opportunities coming up as the year ended .... but i wonder - pretty insipid January effect this time around, this is not a usual year .... actually i'm ignoring all that cycle stuff largely, for the moment, just trying to pick value and/or clear promo potential, and not worrying much about the short term .... weather's too nice to stick at the computer in market hours anyway
