From strictly a yield point of view, I find it hard to believe AMD can't achieve large caches. If they don't offer it, it must be for a different reason.

Expectation of low volume is the strongest reason I can think off. Another may be potentially higher power consumption and lower max frequency. (but larger die should be able to negate some of it).

One somewhat minor negative from the release that no one mentioned is lack of heat spreader. I would like to see the tech specs of the processor. This secrecy (no benchmarks, no documentation) after launch is annoying.
