":" why ask a question when you have set in your mind that the answer must make sense based upon your experience and observations?
The question was asked months ago. Again, you are assuming facts not in evidence. It was subsequent events that made me decide that it is most likely , despite your protestations.
But, last night I did e-mail MB Trading the question "If I were to open an account with MB Trading, would my account automatically be coded as that of a 'pattern day trader' because MBT caters to daytraders, or would that determination be made based on my trading patterns?"
and got this answer:

Mrs. Payne,
All margin accounts at MB Trading are automatically coded as 'pattern day trading accounts' by the Securities Exchange Commission.
If there is anything else that I can do for you, please don't hesitate to contact me.
