Jim,

More good news for Rambus fans:

Intel's P4 sales below plan: analyst (INTC, AMD) By Tomi Kilgore
Analyst Eric Ross at Thomas Weisel said shipments of Intel's (INTC) new P4 chips are "likely well below," and may force the company to pre-announce in June. Ross said in a research note to clients that a "shortfall" will probably result from "a combination of lower unit shipments, high costs and severe price cuts on P4." His sources indicate that motherboard designers are having a hard time integrating the P4 in existing boards, which may be inhibiting sales. Ross cut his estimate for P4 unit sales to 1 million from 1.5 million in the second quarter, well below Intel's plan to ship 3 million. For the year, Ross thinks Intel will chip roughly 10 million units, or about half the amount planned. Intel's stock is slipping 12 cents to $27.82 in pre-open trading. Separately, Ross said Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is "rapidly gaining share" in desktop PCs.
