Joe re:Tom provides some numbers. 1 GHz at 1.4V produces 24W of power. Since Intel got away with 1 GHz Piii operating at 33W, there is some room for AMD to play these games as well. And it gives room for AMD to offer a 1.3 GHz notebook. Possibly even on batteries in AUTO mode, where die temperature is also used as an input to the throttling algorithm. Petz
