Shooting can definitely be a sport, and if the shooter is a hunter, it is most certainly a sport. It is not simply about pointing the gun and pulling the trigger. From what I have seen, it is a rare guy who can hike several miles into mountains with a pack and rifle, and who after days of patient suffering has skill enough to calm himself and make a clean shot when his quarry finally comes into view some 200-300 yards away. That takes a lot of practice, forethought, discipline, aches, pains and a deep appreciation of solitude that soccer guys running in scatterbrained futility across a lawn simply will never understand.
