10:50 ET Sector Watch: Semiconductor : Sector keeping the pressure on the Nasdaq as it breaks through the bottom of its near month long consolidation. Leading the way lower thus far are NVLS (-2.8%), ALTR (-2.5%), XLNX (-2.3%) and LSCC (-2.5%). However, short term supports are near at hand for the SOX index at 603.21 and 597 (50 day simple ma). 10:42 ET Ariba (ARBA) 6.12 -0.78: Ariba has been under pressure the last few days; trading floors citing expectations of a Gartner Group report that will argue that procurement software vendors such as Ariba will not survive as independent companies. CIBC calls it old news but agrees with the conclusion that ARBA faces continuing troubles and is likely to be an acquisition target.
