Cable & Wireless to acquire Digital Island May 14, 2001 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- The telecomms services provider Cable and Wireless Plc (C&W) has signed an agreement to acquire Digital Island Inc in a cash transaction worth approximately USD340m. Digital Island is a California-based company that offers managed Internet services for business customers. Through the acquisition C&W hopes to become a major global provider of end-to-end IP-based solutions. C&W will also be able to strengthen its data centre offerings, particularly in the US.
