Thread- Per the stats below, the cable plant serves only 1 million (out of 100 million homes) homes with telephony. It's pretty sad because each sub they sign up, ends up spending about $50/month for local phone service. Seems like a good plan to break the backs of the ILECs monopoly on local phone service. Too bad the former FCC chief Kennard didn't realize this. I'm still hoping the new chief Powell understands, but I'm not holding my breath.

The other figure of note is the digital TV subs. Today there are only 9 million subs converted to digital TV. So that leaves a lot of potential left for converting the remaining 60 million subs.

...whoops. Not enough time to post all the figures. I'll try to get to later. The basic gist of the stats leads me to think believe the real potential of the cable plant is just in it's infancy. You wouldn't know this judging from how the equipment companies have been taken out and shot. -MikeM(From Florida)
