My ankles still ache from those type of encounters!

I especially loved to crush someone meeting the ball one-on-one at the same time and flip their leg backward. Wham!

I played fullback in my early years and then shifted to the front-line wing position. Most of the time on the right side.

In a particularly important playoff game we were tied 1-1 with about 6 minutes left. It was a gruelling battle in the freezing hard ground of Maryland in November.

We had a break, the left wingman had beatin his man and was heading for the corner, I timed my entranced from the right side to receive his corner pass. It was a high deep shot right near the goal. I shifted into full speed and leapt as high as I could to head it in, then WHAM! I slammed into the goal post with my chin!! Ouch, I was out.....

When I awoke, the coach was hovering over me with that smelling sauce. "All you alright". That depends, did we score! "No, it went just wide and missed". In that case, my jaw aches!

After the game I found out I had broken it....

Best weight loss program in the world you can go on is canned juices with a wired set of teeth!

Ahhh, soccer memories... I loved playing the game. My ankles are just too tore up to continue playing today...

You see, the woosie football team always used the soft manicured fields to cushion their tushie padded behinds, while us soccer tough guys ran around in dirt filled areas full of pot-holes! :-)

I did have a lot of fun playing them in weekend pickup games without pads on though. They could never figure out how to tackle without a helmet on. <gg>
