You do not seem to understand patent law. Even the judge did not rule that Rambus did not have the right to modify its claims in continuation patents. That is not the crux of the fraud verdict either. The Fraud verdict spins on Rambus allegedly not telling JEDEC members that it was patenting its IP as it applied to the variant Sdram. So you are misunderstanding the court decision.

I think this particular judge did not like the idea that Rambus could legally write continuation and divisional patents. Unfortunately, it is lawful to do exactly that and it has been done many times before.

The judge's approach was to narrow the scope of the word "bus" and restrict it to "multiplexed bus". In order to accomplish this he had to step all over engineering common sense. One skilled in the art would know immediately in 1991 that Rambus inventions could be used with any bus not just a multiplexed bus.

This is why the judges Markman will be overturned IMO.
The judge also confused contract law, property law and tort law in reaching his astounding resolution of this case.
For whatever reason the fix was in from the outset with this judge.

A question for you...who invented the techniques incorporated into SDRAM and DDR if Rambus did not?
