That is a speculative theory at best. I have not seen any evidence that supports the theory. 3.5% is not a particularly high royalty but it is certainly higher than what is being charged for SDRAM.

RAMBUS believes that RDRAM is the best solution for the high performance systems. I tend to agree with them. The higher % royalty of course helps establish RDRAM from a cost standpoint but it is not by itself sufficient. This has always been Rambus position from what I have seen and read.
