People engage in contradiction everyday. That was my point. (for our purposes) a premise or proposition cannot be both true and false. When we find ourselves straddling a contradiction, we need to resove it to determine the error.

Your paragraph on love, etc. shows that you are confusing contradiction with incomplete understanding. I was not asserting that any mortal could have perfect understanding or knowledge; I was pointing out that where there is contradiction there is ignorance and falsity. Ignorance can often be resolved.

The fact that contradiction exists is not something to exalt. Contradiction reflects ignorance or malfeasance. Let us go back to the bible where this discussion began: I asserted (without contradiction) that the bible was contradictory, and therefore false. I asked you (in an indirect fashion) to apply the same standards of probity to the bible as you would to the concerns of your everyday life. Simple, really.

Testing the reliability of an old group of writings has nothing to do with your inability to comprehend the mysteries of love. It is simply a test of authenticity--like balancing your cheque-book. So you test: What were the LAST words of Jesus? Where was Jacob buried, etc.? When you get contradictory answers to simple queries of fact, you know you have a discreditable witness--and you strike the testimony. Simple, really.
