I don't know if your reading of Pflaum's post is simply in error or deliberately obtuse, making his point. He's not saying "it'll never work." And the fact that we have what you call an honest and competent administration for a change certainly does not preclude them from realizing that "it'll never work without taking science seriously." In fact, if they were as honest and competent as you suggest, it would be their responsibility to do so. But no, what we have so far is completely consistent: "There is no such thing as reliable science. All science is political. Therefore we will discount science and do what we think is right because we are of good character."
