Scumbria:
AMD to announce Dell design win for Athlon 4

The LT chances for AMD to sell CPU's to Dell is remote for 2 reasons.

- Intel will release the Tutulin 0.13 micron mobile P3 very soon which will relegate AMD laptops to low end if at all. I would have to believe that this P3 die shrink will do for Intel anything they need to be done regarding speed and power consumption issues relative to AMD's offerings.
- RE price points. Intel will cut prices to whatever degree to keep this important market. Transmeta Carusoe CPU has not made any inroads to the full featured laptop market even after several announced design wins that were canceled after Intel marketing arm took over.

However, until the recession shows some sign of ending there will not be aggressive volume of PC or laptops sales since most big companies will have 3-5% of their systems in storage due to the current round of job layoffs. Smaller companies, sensing the fear in the economy, are avoiding most PC purchases doing short term PC repairs to tide them over until they see future economic conditions look better.

I think Intel is always better poised to benefit from any recovery in the PC market.
