The fed position on marijuana is absurd to me. The drug war is a failure, and IMO has done more harm than good anyway.

Your point about, where there is a market, there will be a supply, is key. Even if pot (the substance) was eradicated, we would still have the problem of people wanting to numb themselves from reality. THIS is the issue that we should be addressing. These people who want to numb themselves from reality (quite a high percentage of the population when you include alcohol along with the other illegal drugs), will find a way regardless of legislation. And, IMO the difference in legality of alcohol is a moot point. Anybody who drinks alcohol and then takes a strong position against other drugs is a hypocrite to me.

And the fact that the gov is willing to sacrifice the medical benefits that marijuana can provide to protect an absurd and failed policy, well....it pisses me off.
