<<What were the LAST words of Jesus? Where was Jacob buried, etc.? When you get contradictory answers to simple queries of fact,>>
How are those contradictions? Does anybody really know where Jacob is buried? Has DNA proven the Bible to be errant? As for Jesus, you need to clarify what you mean by "last words". Last words on earth? According to the Bible, He is still alive in glorified form and still speaking.
<Contradiction reflects ignorance or malfeasance. Let us go back to the bible where this discussion began: I asserted (without contradiction) that the bible was contradictory, and therefore false.>>
<<People engage in contradiction everyday. That was my point. (for our purposes) a premise or proposition cannot be both true and false>>
I think the more you say, the stronger the case you make to prove my point. -g- Contradictions often reflect ignorance upon the part of the contradictory opinion holder. For example: Ice cubes are hot, ice cubes are cold. Which statement is true? To a beach goer in Florida, ice is cold. To a scientist studying absolute zero, a normal ice cube is warm. An apparently contradictory statement is now open to subject interpretation. You may wish to presume that a statement can not be both true and false, but it does not necessarily follow that the same statement is contradictory. It may just be being viewed subjectively through ignorance.
As for the Bible, I would maintain that nobody alive today and living on earth has direct knowledge of the history of the this planet and humanity, therefore it is impossible at this time to state with certainty by human experience(your benchmark) that the Bible is contradictory. PK |
