Zeev,

If I read it correctly, the half-hourly report on cboe site (http://www.cboe.com/Volumes/ViewHalfHourlyUpdate.htm) is volume report; ie. the number of puts and calls exchanged hands during that particular half hour. I thought it's the open-interest ratio that matters; i.e. deciding which way the market makers and underwriters will try to paint the tape. According to cboe.com
The day's volume ratio is .86, but open interest at the end of the day is roughly .6. Perhaps much of the put transactions in the morning was put-covering?
