[World DRAM Price] World DIMM Spot Prices Decline May 16, 2001 (TOKYO) -- Most microchip spot prices dropped during the period of March 29-April 27, although they had been in an upward trend in the previous 30-day period.
The world spot prices of 128MB DIMMs (PC 133) again started to decline, and the spot price of the 128Mb DRAM (PC133, 16M x 8) fell in the United States and Asian markets.
According to the world DRAM price survey conducted by ICIS-LOR, which has bases in London, Houston and Singapore, the moving average prices of 128Mb DRAMs for large users during the 30-day period of March 29-April 27 were US$4.50 in North America, US$4.30 in Europe, and US$4.15 in Asia.
Compared with the previous week (the average moving prices during the 30-day period ending April 20), the prices registered a 2.01 percent decline in North America, a 1.06 percent increase in Europe, and a 0.91 percent fall in Asia.
As for memory modules, spot prices of 128MB DIMMs (PC 133) dropped 2.55 percent from the previous week to US$35.90 in North America, fell 0.97 percent to US$35.88 in Europe and declined 2.98 percent to US$35.25 in Asia.
