"Those that choose to fly must have faith that their plane will be one of the lucky ones to arrive safely, even though logic says the odds are with them. Again, hundreds die each year having believed in logic."
I guess you meant to say, "hundreds die each year having believed in FAITH" as in, "Those that choose to fly MUST have FAITH".
Really, all of this silliness about ants and shoes and ice cubes is a product of too many Koana beans, I'm sure. Certainly, it has nothing to do with our discussion topic which was your consideration of why you exempted the bible from the criticism of contradiction. Inasmuch as the bible is quite likely the most contradictory and absurd compilation of myths ever assembled in one place, your unwillingness to acknowledge this seems to indicate an irrational need to avoid any contact whatsoever with the sunlight.
Do you exempt all books from the finding of contradiction? On what basis? Do you not recognize contradiction as the archstone of all logic? Is the Gita free of contradiction? The mormon bible? The Illiad? Are we to rewrite the whole history of civilization so as to remove all science and leave only dreams, and empty faced zombies marching into the mouths of lions??
All mathematics, all science hangs together because of the ability to recognize contradiction. On what basis would you be able to separate fact from fiction? Who would build cars? Who would do surgery? Too, too absurd!
Perhaps you can help me with the answer to this question: "Does God lie and deceive?"
"Where in the Bible does it say Jonah was swallowed by a whale?
He was either swallowed or he went up from the other end...
MATTHEW 12:40
for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
(while in the fish belly for 3 days, Jonah prays, so God gets the fish to vomit Jonah out--ha, ha!)
"I am not aware that the Bible claims Jacob is buried in two different places. Can you be specific?
GENESIS 50:13
for his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field, for a possession of a burying-place, of Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre. 14And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brethren...
ACTS 7:15
So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, 16: And were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money of the sons of Emmor [the father] of Sychem. |
