I'm not convinced - I think Dell would stand to lose too much from Intel.
The biggest reason to stay with one microprocessor vendor is non-disclosure arrangements. The engineers and programers that work with one vendor are strictly not allowed to work with the team that works with the other vendor. Dell has recently moved all laptop manufacturing out of Texas and so the stage may be set for an isolated team in either asia or Nashville to work with AMD.
