Obviously, I have some "degree of conviction." The strongest is in the "quality" of AMAT,ASML,KLAC,NVLS,ALTR,XLNX,LLTC,MXIM and their long term potential value. The weakest is in the short term price movements. I don't like gambling or playing games. I like simple strategies that I can confortably commit a significant amount of money to. Shorting AMAT here is not such a strategy.

55% refers to the % of stock in my brokerage accounts. I am looking for 3-5 times my money over a 5 year period. The ability to achieve these returns depends on low entry and high exit prices. I do not believe AMAT at 50 will get me the returns I want. An average cost of 25-30 will, and I believe it is possible, relatively likely, but not likely enough for me to short AMAT here.
