NY Natural Gas: Jun Off Sharply on Profit Taking

May 16-MAR--

By Charles H. Featherstone
New York, May 16 (BridgeNews) - Profit taking after this week's run-up
has brought NYMEX Jun natural gas down in early Wednesday trading.
Expectations of another 100-plus-bcf addition to U.S. are also
contributing to the general uneasiness, which at 1107 ET were down 16.8
cents at $4.485 per MMBtu.

According to one analyst, Monday and Tuesday's rally was largely funds
covering their short positions. Now that they are done, the downward
movement can continue, he added.
Jun should not fall below $4.00 per MMBtu today unless the American
Gas Association reports a build of 125 billion cubic feet or more, the
analyst said. But the near-month could fall another 20 cents Wednesday if
AGA numbers are around 115 bcf, the analyst added.
The AGA is expected to report a build of 100-110 billion cubic feet at
1400 ET. End
