CSCO got caught behind in electrical based routers as the whole world moved to optic networking. Companies like JDSU ate their lunch. I hated CSCO at $60 and I continue to hate it at $17. The same is certainly true for legacy GSM companies that claim market share is the key to their brain power. They hide behind the stats to push forward with highly leveraged vendor financing that has immense economic risks, especially considering the technical difficulties of the technology. This short term GPRS solution is like the Maginot Line. It will be ripped apart as real competition is introduced into the market which can drive real improvements in voice and data applications.
