If those assumptions are true, then the bondholders will accept their money back and not convert without a substantial premium. If they truly are the short position, then the high price will still be meaningless to them. Therefor, they will want cold cash. Cash that Noam will not want to part with Wrong...They probably are short still and that is precisely the reason they must convert once the bonds are called. If they took the money instead of converting the bonds, they have changed a fully-hedged riskless position into one of infinite risk. Trust me, this is not what they are about! Please trust me Benny (I have some convertibles to sell ya!
