AMDs share was 21.2% to 21.4% at the end of Q1 depending on who you listen to. Up from 16.8% to 17% in the prior quarter. This is the biggest share increase in several quarters. This all without notebook presence.
Even a declining presence.
This will likely add a few % points to AMDs ASPs too.

When the K6-2 was in bloom, AMD had upwards of 50% of the retail notebook market. Not much in the business notebook market.

If AMD can regain 50% of the retail notebook market and just 10% of the business market that ought to be worth at least 5% more in overall share maybe more.
If the Athlon can take the same 4% in the desktop market in this Q and next...AMD can get to 30% of market share overall
by the end of Q3, Q4 at the latest.

Paul has assured me this will never happen, BTW. Maybe not.

Intel will fight like hell not to let this happen.
They will even bloodbath the mobile market...where their margins are going to tamk in the next Q or two, IMHO. I think Joe agrees too. Dells gonna love all the cheap mobile P3s.

If AMD gets a few % points in the server arena...Intel will be looking down the barrel of a triple barreled shotgun.

Then again, AMD still needs to work overtime...get that dang Palomino Desktop out there...
