substancep,

I posted that link to the CNBC Rambus article simply as a source of information. Perhaps you did not notice that I made no comment, pro or con, re. the content. If I had typed "Rambus on the Ropes," I could possibly comprehend your response. If you have a problem WRT the accuracy/objectivity of the article, I suggest that you contact Hal Plotkin, and CNBC. A note to the various analysts he quoted might also help to further your cause.

I confess that I have posted on the AMD threads. It has been one of my better investments this year. :) I lurk on quite a few threads, though rarely post. The Moderated AMD Thread is the one which contains information you could possibly find of interest. Rambus and Intel are frequently discussed there, by people that work in the chip industry. Perhaps your query as to "where memory tech is headed" could be better served by Scumbria, or one of the other engineering-types that frequently post there. In fact, you could probably obtain some "clear ideas" from the Rambus thread, right here on SI~

I am not a professional in the business - simply an investor. I'm not in love with any company or stock. I buy tech stocks because they are more volatile. In fact, I bought and sold Rambus for a nice profit, but that was last year :)

Best of luck in your investments,

HTH, FWIW,
