Allen, I think that some types of flash or other non-volatile memory will be cheaper than DRAM because:

1. It doesn't have to be as fast.

2. Volume. Ultimately, this may be the highest-volume memory sold.

3. For many applications, it doesn't have to be perfect - the chips can have flaws and still be useful for many applications (sound an photography included.)
