But what these open standards that everyone is talking about? If open standards really were so open, then ruling the client means you rule the client, and ruling the server means you rule the server--nothing else is implied (any open client should be able to talk to any open server, and vice-versa).

I posit that there really is NO such thing as an "open standard", just marketing hype about open standards (mostly NSCP marketing hype, IMO).

And just out of curiousity, can you disclose any information about what you do on your X-terminal? I'm interested in understanding what problem X-windows is solving for you.
