Re: Just to give an example, as part of that story (if memory serves, but I've seen this quoted by several "journalistic" sources - and it is so outrageous that its incredible that these quotes are not checked by this "journalists" (wonder if they've been to Al Gore's classes?) has been the assertion that Rambus will have to pay back royalties for royalties they've already been paid for SDRAM and DDR... Lets set it straight, worse case scenario, Rambus loses every bit of SDRAM and DDR IP, Rambus still gets to keep all the royalties they've been paid in regard. THEY WILL NOT HAVE TO REPAY BACK ANY ROYALTIES!!!!!

Here's a simple question to ask yourself, "Rambus was convicted of committing civil FRAUD against Infineon, who has paid $0 to RAMBus in royalties, and RAMBus was orderd to pay $3.5M (capped to $350K by Maryland statute) in PUNITIVE damages plus $0K in compensatory damages to Infineon as a result. Why can't Hitachi, Samsung, etc. file lawsuits claiming to have been DEFRAUDED by RAMBus, and (if they win) collect all royalties they paid as compensatory damages (plus interest, of course), plus punitive damages?"

The fact that several DRAMurai signed contracts with RAMBus to pay SDRAM royalties is irrelevant if it were found that the contracts were negotiated in bad faith because RAMBus' claims were fraudulent.
