The 'cdma2000 1x' phone has fallen short of the expectation that it would enable users to talk on the phone watching each other's face enjoying the high-speed transmission of data and moving images. On the contrary, it has only raised complaints among customers. As a result, sales agencies, which are supposed to promote sales of the new phones, even dissuade customers from buying the phones.
The cdma2000 1x is the 2.5th-generation service that bridges the current mobile phone service (2nd) and the 3rd IMT2000 service. In particular, as the IMT2000 service has been delayed mobile communications businesses are scrambling to release cdma2000 1x terminals, promoting commercialization of the advanced service.
However, customers who bought the new breed of phones have reported complaints to sales agencies or outlets that they were unable to make a call with the phones, not to mention, that cutting-edge additional services are unavailable.
"Out of 10 sold out, about 7 has been reported with complaints," said a sales agency source. "Even worse, the complaints are mostly that they can't make a call, not that additional services are unavailable," he pointed out.
Moreover, phone makers are passively dealing with the problem by manually switching the service type to that of existing models, further inviting fiercer complaints from those who paid hefty amounts of money for the products. In addition, the phone makers have not given words as to when additional services become available, giving sales agents and customers a hard time.
After all, those who bought expensive terminals at 400,000 to 500,000 won are to settle down with relatively higher Internet access speed and increased phone-memory capacity, sources explained.
In particular, KTF and LG Telecom are endeavoring to sell cdma2000 1x terminals taking it a chance that SK Telecom-Shinsegi Telecom are instructed to lower their market shares to less than 50%. Accordingly, customer complaints are to further intensify. |
