Infolatina via NewsEdge Corporation : MEXICO CITY, May 16, 2001 (Reforma/Infolatina via COMTEX) -- Carlos Peralta, former chairman of Mexican mobile carrier Grupo Iusacell, plans to create a new telecommunications company in partnership with local investors Pablo Funtanet and Gaspar Rivera Torres, according to a report in Mexico City daily Reforma. The new company will exclusively provide integrated telephone, cable-TV, Internet and other value-added services inside a massive luxury residential development - Bosque Real - in Mexico City's outer western suburbs, Reforma business columnist Dario Celis Estrada reported. The development eventually is expected to be home to more than 18,000 high-income households. Several Mexican telecom companies reportedly already have expressed opposition to Peralta's plans, describing them as monopolistic in nature. Peralta earlier this year sold his 34.5-percent stake in Iusacell to U.K. giant Vodafone Group for more than 900 million dollars in cash.
