Yet another reason to recognize that the environment in D.C. has become, over the years, more and more inimicable to the fundamental principles on which our nation was built and grew strong.

If the Administration wants to revert to a spoils system or come up with some other system to replace the civil service system, it should do so directly--make a proposal and get it through Congress. In the meantime, what we have now is the law and should at least be acknowledged if not respected. Particularly by the Justice Department. I seem to remember some promises in the campaign about following the law...
