baking question.

say you're baking something... like biscuits or cake or brownies or something... and they gets done on the outside and begins to burn outside before they's done in the middle... does that mean you should alter the heat downward in the recipe and bake longer? or turn up the temp? or bake on a lower or higher rack? or what?

if it was meat on the grill, i'd cook it longer at a lower temp. is it the same for the oven when baking?

sorry to be so serious, but i got's to know.
