Thursday May 17, 5:34 pm Eastern Time Dell sees second-quarter sales decline NEW YORK, May 17 (Reuters) - Dell Computer Corp. (NasdaqNM:DELL - news) executives said on Thursday that sales would decline between 3 percent and 5 percent in the second quarter from the previous quarter as U.S. corporations controlled technology budgets. ``The guidance we're talking about is for revenues to be perhaps down 3 to 5 percent in the quarter,'' said Chief Financial Officer Jim Schneider. ``I'm talking sequentially, a 3 to 5 percentage point drop.'' ``Net operating margins would be flat to slightly down,'' he told reporters on a conference call after the company released its first-quarter results. Executives said that second-quarter earnings per share would be in the range of 15 cents to 17 cents in the second quarter, which would be flat or slightly down from EPS of 17 cents in the first quarter. ``We're still seeing pretty good demand in Europe and in Asia,'' said President and Chief Operating Officer Kevin Rollins, adding that the U.S. corporate market was still the weak spot. ``In the corporate environment we're not seeing a change in the behavior of our customers are still pretty cautious. We're not seeing a lot of new projects kind ofpopping up.''
